FORTNITE Now Has 125 Million Players Worldwide! World Cup 2019 Qualifiers Start This Fall!!

Jim here. Wow. In just one year of release, Epic Games' FORTNITE has over 125 million players worldwide. I'm watching in awe (and playing of course) as this game explodes across all devices (currently on PC, MacOS, PS4, XBOX, Nintendo Switch and iOS devices - Android on the way).

Impressed isn't a strong enough word: I can play a game using my player account on XBOX and then continue on using my PC with the same account (important because of in-game purchases). Stats don't combine though - which make sense. XBOX and PS4 don't play together either. Yet. Hopefully, they can sort of their differences and make this happen someday.

Clearly Epic is laughing all the way to the bank with this title as while the basic game is free, in order to add very cool and exciting cosmetic enhancements, you must purchase them. With a user base of 125m, $ would add up FAST.

But Epic is giving back to the community with $100 million in competitive e-sports and events around the world, including the 2019 Fortnite World Cup! World Cup qualifiers start happening this fall and will be BASED ON MERIT and not through selling teams or leagues. Rules, Player Code of Conduct, specifics about platforms and Fall 2018 schedule are on the way.
